A data warehouse can be built using three approaches;
- A top-down approach - The top-down approach starts with the overall design and planning.
- A bottom-up approach - The buttom-up approach starts with experiments and prototypes.
- A combination of both approaches - In the combined approach an organisation can exploit the planned and strategic nature of the top-down approach while retaining the rapid implementaion and opportunistic application of the buttom-up approach.
